47402 - Heywood Station - 03-07-2011

The 'Generator' D1501 (47401) is perserved at Bury by The Bury Diesel Group. 47402 forms one of the orignial batch of Class 47s which were constructed with Electric Train Heat (ETH). Unlike later versions this was achieved via an eatra winding in the main generator of the locomotive. Being none standard the original 20 47/4s were withdrawn by BR in late 1980s.
