37198 (D6898) Was Withdrawn From Service By EWS on the 15th December 1999 and following a period in storage was sold to BREL (Bedale Railway Engines Limited) for Preservation initially at the Wedneslydale Railway and later at the embryonic Dartmoor Railway before BREL encountered difficulties and 37198 was sold on to EMR Kingsbury in November 2007. Shortly after arrival at EMR Kingsbury 37198 was sold on to Network Rail, initially as a possible candidate for conversion to a 97/3 but this was not necessary and 37198 remains stored, but undergoing repairs for possible work as a test track engine.
